Outreach

Seasonal Projects

We have a different project for each season of the church year.  Please click this "Seasonal Projects" link above to find out about past and current projects.

Saint Christopher's Food Pantry

Christ Church gathers non-perishable food items for Saint Christopher's Food pantry on an ongoing basis.  In particular, offerings of individual tubs of instant potatoes, boxed macaroni and cheese, cans of tuna and cans of kidney beans are encouraged, but all items are welcome.  We began this project in Pentecost, 2007 and have decided to adopt it as an ongoing parish ministry.

Clare House Meal

Christ Church is responsible providing dinner for Clare House on the the first Saturday of alternate months. We usually supply a home-cooked meal for about 40 women and children, with an occasional pizza feast and other variations for special occasions. Wendy Baker is the coordinator for this ministry; she plans the menus, enlists people to cook, and usually delivers the meal to Clare House. Contact her if you are interested in helping out for one or more months. We have a book of recipes scaled for 40 people, to help those who are not accustomed to catering on that scale.

Mary Conrad Center

On the 4th Sunday of each month, at 2:30 p.m., Christ Church leads an Interfaith Service with Holy Communion at Mary Conrad Center. The Service includes a lot of singing, a short Homily, prayers, and communion. Christ Church parishioners assist with leading music and also visit with the residents.

FROLIC FROLIC

Fully Renewing Our Lives In Christ- This is our Sunday morning at 9:30 intergenerational Christian Education Program.  Participants range in age from 7 to many multiples of 7.  We explore the Gospel and our Episcopal Tradition together, with all ages learning from one another.

EfM - Education for Ministry

EfM meets at Christ Church on Wednesday evenings.  This is a 4 year program from the University of the South at Sewanee, School of Theology.  Participants commit to one year at a time.  The first year studies the Old Testament.  Topics for the following years are New Testament, Church History, and Theology.  Seminar groups meet once a week, September through May for about 2 and a half hours.

Christ Church Library

Our Library is chock full of books on theology, bible references, old and new testament studies, liturgy, pastoral care, devotionals, prayer, and some fascinating fiction.  There are books for adults and books for children.  Checking books out is easy.  Just write your name and the book title on the clipboard in the library and then cross your name off when you return the book.

Fellowship

"Third Service"

Every Sunday, following the 10:30 service, all are invited to join together downstairs for conversation, coffee or tea, and tasty home-baked treats.

Roundtable

Roundtable is an evening group meeting for sharing, encouragement, and prayer for ourselves and others. We meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month, except during Lent. Although basically an unstructured meeting, we often include Gospel-Based Discipleship Bible study as a part of the evening.

There are three major components to Round Table

1.  Study - this changes from time to time;  right now (October, 2006) we are studying Bart D. Ehrman's tapes on Early Christianities which were not accepted as orthodox;

2.  Ministry Support - helping each other with our personal, Parish, and wider ministries.

3.  Prayer - we end each session with praise and intercessory prayer.

If you think you may be interested a small support group for Christian ministry, come join us. Why "roundtable" ? Our organizational meeting was held at Roundtable Pizza.

Meet N Eat

On the fourth Thursday of each month, there is a potluck at the church, or an outing to a local restaurant for good food and fellowship.  Talk to Jackie Brownlee for information about the next event.

Movie Nights

We gather to watch a family movie on a Friday night once a month except during the summer.  We have lots of popcorn and have the opportunity to watch a great movie together.
